 CONSTITUTION AND BY-LAWS

 

ARTICLE 1

NAME

 The name of this organization shall be Corbin Hills Women's Golf Association.

 

ARTICLE II

OBJECTIVES

 To promote and encourage interest and confidence in competitive play and familiarize players

with the rules, etiquette and good sportsmanship of the game.

 

 

ARTICLE III

MEMBERSHIP

 

To be a competing member (eligible for awards and tournament play) you must have a

current handicap card from

any course or 5 score cards from rounds played at Corbin Hills.  Handicaps, which are

tabulated by the  CGA, are not given for less than 10 rounds of golf.

 

 

ARTICLE   IV

MEETINGS

 

 The Annual Meeting – last Tuesday in January. This is the primary business meeting of the year.

 

The Spring Meeting - last Tuesday in March.  This is a social meeting where everyone becomes acquainted with all the members; hand out the booklets and sign up for the first day of play.The

 

Awards Meeting - second Tuesday of November.  This is to give out the awards for the year and elect officers.

 

The Club President may call special meetings at any time.

 

 

ARTICLE  V

DUES

Dues are payable by the 20th of Feb. each year.  Dues, less handicap fee, will be refunded

if membership is cancelled prior to April 1.  Full dues will be paid no matter when a

member joins.

 

 

ARTICLE  VI

OFFICERS

 

Section  1. The officers of the Association shall consist of a Club  President, Vice-President

and Secretary, who shall be elected for a 2-year term;

Past President, shall serve for a  2-year term and

Treasurer who can be elected indefinitely. 

 All officers shall be elected by the membership at the November meeting and shall take office at the Annual  Meeting in January.

 Section  2.  The elected officers of the Association shall form the Executive Committee.

 

Section  3.  A copy of the duties of each officer and Executive Committee shall be furnished to each member.

 

ARTICLE  VII

COMMITTEES

 

The Club President shall appoint the following committee chairmen: Tournament; Rules, Handicap and Ringer;

Social and Communications.  The Past President shall serve as Membership Chairman.  Each committee shall

consist of a chairman and at least one or two other members

 

 

ARTICLE  VIII

RULES

 Section  1.  USGA Rules shall govern play, except where local rules apply.  Click on the tab on the left

to see the local rules.

 

Section  2.  All members are required to post all 18-hole rounds played at Corbin Hills Golf Club. 

All members are expected to adjust their scores according to th Equitable Stroke Control (ESC) System. 

 

Section  3.  To be eligible to compete in the Spring and Fall Tournaments, a player must have an established handicap.  Tournament dates (2 rounds each plus rain dates) will be set by April 1st each year.  Members playing in the Fall Championship will be flighted.

  

 

ARTICLE  IX            

DUTIES OF OFFICERS

 

 Section  1.  CLUB PRESIDENT - Will preside at all meetings of the Corbin Hills  Women’s Golf Association.  Will appoint

Committee Chairmen and approve the appointment of all committee members who are suggested by those chairmen.  Will either attend or

appoint a representative to other meetings outside the Association.  Will be responsible for publishing the golf  booklet.

 

Section  2.  VICE  PRESIDENT - Will preside at any meeting in the absence of the Club President.  Will be responsible for all special publicity.  Will keep a scrapbook and display at annual meeting.  Will be responsible for the invocation at the three yearly meetings,

and other sposored eventh.  Other Duties as necessary. 

 

Section  3.  PAST  PRESIDENT.  Will preside at any meeting in the absence of the Club President and Vice President.  Will serve as Member ship Chairman and will serve on Rules and Handicap Committee.  Other duties as necessary.

 

Section  4.  SECRETARY.  Will keep detailed and accurate Minutes of all meetings.  Will  furnish a copy of all Minutes to the

Club President within one week after each meeting.  In the absence of the Secretary, the President will appoint a substitute, and recorded Minutes shall be approved by her.  Will send get well cards to members and sympathy cards to immediate family.  Other duties as necessary.

 

Section  5.  TREASURER.  Will keep detailed and accurate records and will furnish an itemized statement of income and expenditures

to the Club President prior to each general membership or executive committee meeting whenever a change has occurred. Treasurer

and President will have a joint bank account rights for the Corbin Hills Women’s Association bank account.  Will furnish a list of paid membership to Club President,  Membership and Rules and Handicap Chairmen.  Will send memorials and other duties as necessary.

 

 

ARTICLE  X           

EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE

 

Section  1.  Will approve the plans for all special tournaments.  Will approve the selection of  prizes for all tourneys and Member-Guest.  Will approve the disbursement of all funds.  Will decide on annual prizes for ringer and birdie tree; and also special prizes and awards. 

Will decide all grievances.   Will conduct an audit of the financial records prior to the Annual Meeting in January. 

Will meet once a month if necessary.

 

 

ARTICLE  XI       

 STANDING COMMITTEES

 

Section  1.  TOURNAMENT COMMITTEE.  Will be responsible for all weekly tournaments.  Will keep an annual ringer and

birdie tree.  Will plan all Special Tournaments.  (See Article XII).  Will, with the Social Committee, plan the Mary Cobb McCombs Founder’s Day (Member-Member) and the Member-Guest Tournament.  Will present a Schedule of Events at the Spring Meeting. 

Will be responsible for publicity of Special Events.

 

Section  2.  RULES and  HANDICAP.  Will, with the Club President,  Past President, Golf Professional and/or advisor, update

ground rules and prepare copies of such for distribution at Spring Meeting.   Will distribute new Handicap Cards the first of each month.

Will see that all scores are posted on the Computer.  Will contact any member who continuously fails to do so and will explain to

each new member how to adjust scores for posting.  Other duties as assigned by the Club President.

 

Section  3.  SOCIAL COMMITTEE.  Will be responsible for all luncheons and refreshments.  Will work with the Tournament

Committee on Member-Guest and Special Tournaments.  Other duties assigned by the President.

 

Section  4.  MEMBERSHIP.  Will see that all dues are paid by Feb. 20th..  Will interview all prospective members.  (See Article III). 

Will contact all members whose dues are in arrears.  Will furnish a revised list of members, including phone numbers and addresses

to each member at the Spring Meeting.  Will update list of members as necessary.  Other duties as assigned by the Club President.

 

Section  5.  COMMUNICATION COMMITTEE.  Will contact all members for special meetings and events, as designated

by the Club President.

 

Section  6.  NOMINATING COMMITTEE.  Appointed  by the President in August of each year to prepare a slate of

officers to be presented to the membership at the November meeting.

 

ARTICLE  XII

ACTIVITIES

 

Weekly tournament each Tuesday.

An Annual Spring Handicap Tournament – In  Memory of Grace Rodgers  (2 rounds). 

Tuesday and Thursday with rain dates if pertinent.

The Judy Cristman Fall Club Championship Tournament - (2 rounds). 

Tuesday and Thursday with rain dates if pertinent.

An  Annual  Mary Cobb McCombs Founder’s Day Tournament (Member-Member).

An  Annual  Member-Guest  Tournament.

Invitational  Days – here and away.

 

ARTICLE  XIII

AMENDMENTS

 

This Constitution may be amended, altered or repealed at any meeting by a majority of the membership.  A majority of all votes cast shall be necessary for such action.

 

AMENDMENT  I.  Beginning in January 1985, the Chairman of the Tournament Committee, 

the Chairman of the Rules and Handicap Committee, and the current President will comprise a committee to

determine the Most Improved Golfer each year.  This is in memory of Mary Rainey.  The Most Improved Golfer

must have her handicap from the previous October for year of handicaps.
